While in college, during the late 1980s, I had the good fortune to study “Photography as Art” under the direction of a professor who is also an avid documentary photographer. Thanks to his gentle guidance and ability to instill his high standards for excellence and attention to detail, my passion for photography was truly ignited.

Although I consider myself primarily self-taught, I constantly strive to improve my technical ability and to develop a greater understanding of my subjects. The opportunity to study the latest techniques and best practices under the following professional photographers significantly influenced the way I approach and create my art:

My goal is to present the viewer with the image “as actually observed”, and without alteration. Images must stand on their own merit for artistic, technical, and compositional value.

I would like share quotes from three eminent photographers. Each one has not only had a major influence on the art of photography, but also myself.

A great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed

Ansel Adams

Photography to the amateur is recreation, to the professional it is work, and hard work too, no matter how pleasurable it may be.

Galen Rowell

Once you really commence to see things, then you really commence to feel things.

Edward Weston

It is with this intent that I strive to create and present my work as “Fine Art Images that will enrich our lives”.
